Painting outside at home

11x14 oil painting in progress

There's something really nice about painting in your own yard.  At first there may seem to be nothing of interest ~ same old, same old...  Relax, look around and you'll find a good spot to paint no matter where you live - in an urban or country setting.
Today I pushed myself out the door, not really in the mood. Thinking I should drive somewhere to get "inspired".  That was 4 hours ago. What a fine day! And I got to run inside to make some tea, pee, do the laundry, check my email.  I'm thinking this could become a very good habit.

  1. Great idea! And I have to say I just returned from a plein air workshop last week and used my Art Cocoons for the first time and LOVED them! I am sure I will be ordering more in the future!

  2. Thanks, Denise, for the feedback on Art Cocoons. They are habit forming, I must use them or I'd go crazy with the mess. How was the workshop?

  3. It was great! It was with Dawn Whitelaw, who is an awesome teacher and artist who lives in the Nashville area. We painted outside in the mornings and afternoons, and spent the days in the studio enlarging some of our plein air pieces and learning from her. Great time and lots of work but I learned a lot!
